During the 2020 lockdown, Sef Graham began exploring the trails around Shark Bay in Mount Healthy. What started as a way to enjoy nature quickly caught the attention of friends who wanted to join the adventure.
Sef started making posts on social media to show his different excursions to Shark Bay during the mandatory lockdowns of 2020. Shark Bay, Mount Healthy is in Sef’s backyard, and he made the trail himself by hand (and machete). After friends saw his pictures and videos venturing into Shark Bay, it peaked their interest, and by the time people were free to move about again, he was taking those friends, and friends of friends along the trail (and other trails) with him. That’s when Sef turned this hobby into a business. He took the experience of hiking in other parts of the world and paired it with his local knowledge to create various trails that can suit hikers of various age and fitness levels. “I decided on applying levels to the trails. It qualifies the hiker to have an idea to see what they’re getting into, lets them know if they will be able to do it, and not be put in a compromising position.” ours like The Batcave, Bay Pool, Famous Shark Fin, Bamboo Meadow and Pineapple Field, all on Tortola, are perfect for the beginner hiker, children, or those wanting a slower paced journey with beautiful views.
Those wanting to challenge their bodies may opt for Mount Alma, Fort Charlotte or Ruins on the Beach. What’s important and impressive to note, is that many of these trails were cleared personally by Sef, who also received official permission to use the private property for the purposes of HikeBVI. HikeBVI does special sister-island tours, and set up picnics and camping on Anegada, Salt Island, Jost Van Dyke and Norman Island. The Anegada hike in particular includes horseback riding, along with trips to ‘Conch Island’, the Faulkner Museum and Iguana Sanctuary. Sef has also gone super creative and offered ‘silent hikes’ with headphones and that end with a bonfire.

After guiding friends and visitors through the hidden trails of Tortola, the idea grew into something bigger. More people wanted to experience the beauty of these secret paths and scenic views.
Sef officially launched HIKE BVI to share these incredible trails with travelers and locals. The goal was simple: create fun, safe, and memorable hiking experiences in the British Virgin Islands.
Today HIKE BVI offers a variety of tours across Tortola and nearby islands, from relaxing nature walks to exciting island adventures and snorkeling experiences.
